She is among the young hopefuls competing fiercely at the Lagos Tennis Club, Ikeja — venue of the 2025 Junior Circuit, Lagos — where she recently battled through matches under the scorching sun in the U14 category.
For Blessing, tennis is more than a sport; it’s a story written from the heart. Her love for the game began close to home, inspired by her parents, both tennis enthusiasts who introduced her to the court long before she could swing a racket properly.
“My mom and dad used to play, and I always followed them to the court,” she recalled with a smile.
“They believed in me, and that gave me the courage to start. I told them I loved this sport and wanted to take it seriously,” she told Sports247.
What started as a family pastime soon became her passion. Three years on, her dedication remains unwavering. She juggles schoolwork and intense training, often practicing under the afternoon heat — learning not only skill and strategy but also patience, focus, and resilience.
“I love tennis because it gives me agility and teaches discipline and focus — all the things you need to succeed in life,” she said softly. “Every game helps me grow and learn something new.”
Her inspirations are clear: Carlos Alcaraz, the fearless Spanish sensation, and Danielle Collins, whose fighting spirit she deeply admires. Watching them play fuels her ambition to one day represent Nigeria on the international stage.
“I want to play like them, win lots of laurels for my self and my country and make my parent proud,” she said with quiet determination.
With the guidance of her coach, the support of her family, and her own unshakeable belief, she stands at the dawn of a promising tennis journey , one that could carry her from the courts of Lagos to the world stage.
