New Super Falcons forward Joy Omewa has expressed her excitement and determination ahead of Nigeria’s WAFCON qualifying return leg against Benin Republic in Abeokuta tomorrow, promising to give her all for the team and the country.
The 22-year-old attacker, who has been in dazzling form for Fortuna Hjørring in Denmark, earned her first national team call-up this month and could make her debut as Nigeria look to build on their 2-0 first-leg victory in Togo last Friday.

“I’m so happy and grateful for this opportunity,” Omewa said. “It’s a dream to wear the national colours, and I’ll give everything to help the team qualify and make Nigerians proud.”
Omewa said joining a squad that includes seasoned stars like Asisat Oshoala, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Esther Okoronkwo has been both humbling and inspiring, describing it as a “perfect learning experience.”
“The competition is strong, but that’s what makes this team special,” she added. “We all want to give our best and keep improving.”
The Super Falcons, led by head coach Justin Madugu, are confident of finishing the job in front of home fans at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, as they aim to secure a place in the next round of WAFCON 2026 qualifying.
