Nigerian Teen Sensation Umar Abubakar Makes Impact in Famalicão’s 2-0 Victory in Portugal

Former Nigeria U17 striker Umar Abubakar continued to make his presence felt in Europe after featuring for Famalicão in their 2-0 win over Vitória de Guimarães in the Portuguese Liga.

The young forward was introduced in the 81st minute, and despite the limited time on the pitch, Abubakar impressed with his sharp movement, pace, and energy in attack.

His introduction injected fresh intensity into the Famalicenses’ frontline, helping the team maintain control as they sealed an important victory.

Still in the early stages of his professional career, Abubakar’s hunger and confidence have already caught the attention of both fans and coaching staff at the club. His ability to press high, find spaces, and link up play suggests a bright future ahead in the Portuguese top flight.

Though he’s yet to score his first goal for Famalicão, there’s a growing sense within the camp that it’s only a matter of time before the Nigerian forward opens his account.

“Umar is a very talented player — young, ambitious, and willing to learn. His energy lifts the team whenever he comes on,” said a source close to the club.

The 19-year-old, who once dazzled for Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets, is seen as one of the promising exports from the country’s youth football system.

As Famalicão continues their impressive run in the Portuguese Liga, all eyes will be on Umar Abubakar — the Nigerian starlet determined to make his mark in Europe and follow in the footsteps of other Super Eagles greats who began their journeys in Portugal.
