Nigeria’s Super Falcons return to action today in the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers (WAFCONQ), aiming for a commanding result against Benin Republic in the first leg of their final qualifying tie in Lomé, Togo.
The encounter will take place at the Stade de Kégué by 4 p.m. Nigerian time, with Nigeria seeking to establish an early advantage ahead of Tuesday’s decisive second leg in Abeokuta.

At Thursday’s pre-match press conference, head coach Justin Madugu expressed confidence in his side’s readiness, emphasizing their determination to make the return leg a mere formality.
“On Friday, we’ll go out and play our game, seeking goals that will put us in good stead ahead of the return leg,” Madugu said. “We have a team that will go out there and make us proud.”
Madugu confirmed that 19 players are available for the match and acknowledged that while injuries have ruled out some key names — including midfielder Jennifer Echegini — the squad remains strong and motivated.
“Yes, we would have loved to have Jennifer and a couple of others, but we can only pray for their quick recovery. The bulk of our players have what it takes to deliver,” he added.
The Super Falcons, captained by Rasheedat Ajibade, retain much of the core from their WAFCON-winning squad and will look to blend experience with youthful energy against Benin’s Amazons. Nigeria are not only defending champions but also the most successful team in Women’s AFCON history.
The upcoming WAFCON, to be hosted by Morocco in 2026, will serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Brazil, with all four semi-finalists earning automatic berths.
How to Watch
While there is no confirmed television broadcast for the match, fans can follow the action via live streaming on social platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, or NFF TV at 4 p.m. Nigerian time.
