Ajilore Urges Super Eagles to Maintain Benin-Level Intensity Ahead of World Cup Playoffs

Former Nigeria international Femi Ajilore has called on the Super Eagles to approach next month’s World Cup playoff with the same hunger and determination they displayed in their emphatic win over Benin Republic.

Ajilore, who was part of Nigeria’s 2008 Olympic silver-winning squad, said the players understand the magnitude of the task ahead and need no extra motivation to finish the job.

“These players know what is at stake,” Ajilore said. “They’ve put themselves in this position, and it’s up to them to finish strong. No one needs to remind them how important the World Cup is for Nigeria.”

He commended the team’s improved mentality and cohesion under coach Eric Chelle, noting that the performance against Benin was a strong statement of intent.

“If they can play with the same zeal, focus, and unity they showed against Benin, then qualification is certain,” he added. “That was the kind of performance Nigerians have been waiting to see — hungry, organized, and ruthless.”

Ajilore also emphasized the importance of maintaining team discipline and fitness ahead of the crucial fixtures in Morocco, where the continental playoffs will be staged.

“This is the time for total focus,” he warned. “The journey is not over, but if they keep their spirit high and avoid distractions, the Super Eagles can return to the World Cup where they belong.”
