NPFL: Kwara United Aim to Tame Katsina United in Ilorin

After snatching a valuable point on the road against newly promoted Wikki Tourists of Bauchi last weekend, Kwara United will look to turn that momentum into a home victory when they face Katsina United on Sunday in Ilorin.

The Harmony Boys seem to have shaken off the hangover from their early CAF Confederation Cup exit, showing renewed grit and purpose in Bauchi.

Goalkeeper Nurudeen Badmus was the hero of the day, pulling off a decisive penalty save that preserved the draw and underlined the team’s growing confidence.

With the squad gradually returning to full strength, Coach Ashifat Suleiman says the message is clear — Kwara United are in the league to compete for the title. He insists his side will keep pushing with “renewed commitment and tactical discipline” as the season progresses.

Sunday’s clash promises to be a fierce contest between familiar foes. Both sides traded home wins last season — Kwara United, edging it in Ilorin, while Katsina United got their revenge up north. This time, the Harmony Boys will be eager to make it two in a row on home soil.

There are, however, a few concerns in camp. Aliu Saulaudeen is ruled out, while Muhammed Alao and Mubarak Saed are down with malaria. Obiora Kingsley and Moses Nyebe are still recovering from injuries.

On the bright side, Musa Abdulafeez, Babatunde Bright, Olaniyi Saheed, Oluwaseun Ogunribide, and Ini Emmanuel are back in full training and pushing for inclusion in Sunday’s squad.

With confidence restored and the home crowd behind them, Kwara United will be out to deliver a statement performance when they host Katsina United at the George Innih Stadium. Kickoff is 4:00 PM.
