Vanzekin Urges Nwabali to Stay Focused and Learn from Mistakes

Former Nigerian goalkeeper Ambrose Vanzekin has advised Super Eagles shot-stopper Stanley Nwabali to remain focused and not be discouraged by recent mistakes in goal.

Vanzekin, who represented Nigeria at youth and senior levels, said that errors are part of a goalkeeper’s learning curve but the key is to respond positively. “Mistakes happen in football, especially for goalkeepers,” he said.

“What matters most is how quickly you recover and learn from them. Nwabali must keep his head up because he has great potential.”

The former shot-stopper reminded Nwabali that the pressure of representing Nigeria comes with high expectations, but it should not become a burden. “When you wear the national colours, millions are watching. One mistake can attract criticism, but that’s part of the job,” he said.

“I’ve been there — I made errors too, but I used them as motivation to improve.”

Vanzekin encouraged Nwabali to focus on consistency and maintain his confidence heading into the World Cup playoff stage, where his performance will be vital. “He’s talented, and with experience, he’ll get even better. Goalkeeping is about mentality, and I believe he has what it takes to succeed,” he added.
