Nigeria’s Simon Nkom Elected into African Hockey Federation Executive Board

    The President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF), Engr. Simon O. Nkom, has been elected into the Executive Board of the African Hockey Federation (AfHF).

    The election took place during the 25th Ordinary Congress of the Federation, held at the Hotel Mercure in Ismailia, Egypt.

    Engr. Nkom, in his address to delegates before the election, reaffirmed his lifelong commitment to the growth and development of hockey across Africa.

    He stated that his decision to contest for the position was driven by his passion for service and his dedication to advancing the sport within the continent’s hockey family.

    The Congress, which brought together representatives from national hockey federations across Africa, also featured a special recognition ceremony for Professor Ediga, Nigeria’s outgoing representative on the AfHF Executive Board.

    Professor Ediga was celebrated for his decade-long service to the continental body and for his significant contributions to the advancement of African hockey.

    He received special commendations from the President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Mr. Tayyab Ikram, and the President of the African Hockey Federation, Mr. Seif Ahmed. Both leaders praised Professor Ediga’s commitment, professionalism, and leadership, describing him as an exemplary figure in the African hockey community.

    The Nigeria Hockey Federation has extended its heartfelt congratulations to both Engr. Nkom and Professor Ediga.

    In a statement, the Federation expressed pride in their achievements and reaffirmed its resolve to continue promoting excellence, unity, and growth in Nigerian hockey.
