Rivers United departed for Mozambique on Wednesday for the first leg of their CAF Champions League second round clash against Black Bulls. The players and officials travel to Maputo via the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
The encounter is billed for the Campo da ABB, Stadium in Maputo on Saturday, 18 October. The return leg will hold at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo a week later.

Rivers United suffered the second defeat at home in the last five years, and on both occasions, the defeat came at the hands of our Niger Delta derby rivals, Bayelsa United.

The coach was asked about the result, squad rotation and impact of the result ahead of the team return to CAF Champions League action this weekend and more – and here’s how he answered.

The winner of the tie will progress to the final group stage of the competition. Rivers United defeated Congolese side, FS Les Aigles in the first round of the competition.
