Nigeria’s early success, according to the Commission, underscores the country’s leadership and consistency in the sport.
In a congratulatory statement, the Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, lauded the athletes for their remarkable performances, describing their achievements as a testament to Nigeria’s enduring strength and commitment to excellence in para sports.
“Our athletes continue to make us proud, showing the world that Nigeria remains a dominant force in para powerlifting,” Olopade said. “Their bright start in Cairo reflects the depth of talent, discipline, and determination that define our sporting identity. The NSC is proud of their efforts and will continue to provide every necessary support to ensure sustained success.”
Olopade noted that the achievements of Nworgu and Ajiboye serve as motivation for other members of Team Nigeria to aim higher as the championship progresses. He reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to promoting inclusivity in sports and creating more opportunities for para-athletes to thrive.
“The NSC remains committed to supporting Team Nigeria throughout this championship and beyond. We believe in our athletes’ capacity to bring more glory to the country and inspire a new generation of champions,” he added.
With several events still to come, Team Nigeria is poised to build on its strong start as the competition continues in Cairo.
