Amavubi of Rwanda’s coach, Adel Amrouche has rated Group C in the African 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as the most controversial ever; then confessed that Nigeria, Benin Republic and his team all want to capitalise on a mistake made by the segment’s current top placed nation, South Africa.
Sports247 reports that South Africa were recently docked three points by FIFA, for fielding an inelligible player in their game against Lesotho, and Amrouche noted that it was an apt development which has thrown the group very wide open.

Amrouche pointed out, “This is the most controversial group I have ever been involved in. At some point, we were finished, but now we are back alive. The most gutted at this point is SAFA, and we all want to capitalise on their mistake.”
While taking a closer look at the group’s unfolding drama, Amrouche equally gave the Super Eagles a fresh ray of hope for picking the lone ticket to USA/Canada/Mexico 2026, as he promised that his team will not bow in their last fixture away to South Africa, before which they will play to beat visiting Benin Republic this Friday.
“We have 11 points, while Benin are on
14 points. So, we want to take 14 points to South Africa, and we’ll try to qualify. We understand that Benin people are happy, and we want to be happy too. Nigeria wants to be happy, and South Africa wants to be happy too,” Amrouche pointed out.
