Morocco 2025: Flamingos to Play Two International Friendlies in Casablanca After Scoring 44 Goals in 10 Local Matches

Nigeria’s U-17 women’s national team, the Flamingos, have arrived in Casablanca, Morocco, where they will play two international friendly matches as part of their final preparations for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Morocco 2025.

The friendly matches are designed to provide valuable match experience and tactical fine-tuning before the global showpiece kicks off later this month.

The Flamingos will take on New Zealand on Thursday, October 10, and Paraguay on Monday, October 14, with both encounters scheduled to hold in Casablanca.

These test games will offer the technical crew an opportunity to assess his players’ readiness and make final tactical adjustments against top-quality opposition.

The Flamingos are determined to surpass their previous best achievement of winning Bronze in India, as they prepare for another challenging campaign.

The team arrived in Casablanca today (Wednesday) after departing Abuja,with reports from camp indicating a focused and spirited atmosphere as the players are in high spirits and eager and ready to continue their intensive preparations for the tournament.

Before their departure, the Flamingos enjoyed a brilliant run in Abuja, winning all 10 local friendly matches, scoring 44 goals and conceding none—a perfect record that has boosted confidence within the squad.

In their most recent outings, the girls defeated Abuja All-Stars 3–0, courtesy of goals from Praise Agba, Olamide Olanrewaju, and Zainab Raji, while goalkeeper Sylvia Echefu impressed with a series of fine saves.

Earlier, they recorded a 2–0 victory over Josiah Academy, with Chisom Nwachukwu netting twice inside the first 10 minutes.

Other notable wins included a 5–0 thrashing of Nazareth Angels, with Queen Joseph bagging a brace, and a 5–0 triumph over Horvel Prime, where Joseph grabbed a hat-trick alongside goals from Shakirat Moshood and Azeezat Oduntan.

The Flamingos have been drawn in Group D alongside Canada, France, and Samoa, as they aim to make another strong impression when the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup kicks off in Morocco from October 17 to November 8, 2025.
