Nigerian striker Wisdom Ubani announced himself in spectacular fashion on Sunday, coming off the bench to score twice and drag Molynes United from the brink of defeat to a thrilling 2-2 draw with Spanish Town Police in their Jamaica Premier League (JPL) clash at the Waterhouse Mini Stadium.
The 22-year-old forward, who has plied his trade in Croatia and his native Nigeria, produced a dazzling second-half display that transformed Molynes’ fortunes and introduced him as one of the league’s most exciting new talents.

Spanish Town Police looked in cruise control after Jordan Elleston (33’) and Diamond Clarke (42’) fired them into a comfortable 2–0 halftime lead. But the second half belonged to Ubani.
Fourteen minutes after the restart, the Nigerian displayed the kind of brilliance that turns heads and wins headlines — racing down the right flank before unleashing a sweetly struck volley that ripped past goalkeeper Samuels. The strike, a contender for Goal of the Season, left spectators gasping.
“This is my first goal. This is like normal for me because these are the types of goals I score,” Ubani said after the match, exuding calm confidence.
He wasn’t done yet. In the 75th minute, Ronaldo Barrett cut the ball across the face of goal, and Ubani, perfectly positioned, tapped home his second to complete the comeback and earn Molynes a vital point.
For a player who joined Molynes only at the start of the season, the brace marked a personal turning point. “I am adapting to the league,” he explained. “For my first few games I tried to take my time and get my fitness up, and as you see, now I am improving and gelling with the team.”
Molynes, currently 12th in the standings with five points, will need plenty more of Ubani’s magic if they are to climb the table — and he knows it.
“We need to improve because we are not in a good position in the table,” he admitted. “So we need to do better in the next games.”
While Spanish Town Police’s assistant coach William Spencer lamented his side’s second-half complacency, few could deny that the afternoon belonged to the young Nigerian whose flair and finishing lit up Waterhouse.
If Sunday’s heroics are any indication, Wisdom Ubani may have just signaled the start of something special in Jamaican football — and defenders across the JPL have been put on notice.
