Mohammed Garba emerged the hero as Nasarawa United continued their fine form in the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season with a dramatic 1–0 win over Bendel Insurance at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City, on Saturday evening.
Garba struck in the 90+3rd minute to hand the Solid Miners all three points, keeping them at the summit of the NPFL table with 16 points from six matches.

Despite Bendel Insurance’s resilient display and strong home support, they were undone by Garba’s late winner, leaving them languishing in 16th place with just six points.
The result piles pressure on the Benin Arsenal’s technical crew to quickly turn their season around.
In another Matchday Seven fixture, El-Kanemi Warriors edged Kano Pillars 2–1 in Maiduguri.
Daddy Abdulrahman scored a brace in the 60th and 81st minutes, while Sulaiman Idris netted a consolation goal for the visitors in the 89th minute.
The victory lifted El-Kanemi Warriors to fourth position with 11 points, while Kano Pillars dropped to 19th with only four points from six games.
Nasarawa United’s late heroics underline their growing title ambitions early in the campaign, while Bendel Insurance will be eager to rediscover their rhythm as the season progresses.
