The President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Gumel, has voiced optimism over Nigeria’s ability to host the 2030 Commonwealth Games, should the country succeed in winning the bid.

Engineer Habu Gumel argued that staging a major multi-sport event on home soil would leave a lasting legacy: upgraded venues, improved transport systems, hotel development, and enhanced global perception.

He added that it would galvanize youth development, increase sporting participation, and strengthen Nigeria’s reputation as a host of international events.

He also noted that the bid must go beyond mere aspiration: Nigeria will need meticulous planning, financial discipline, and strong collaboration between government, private sector, and sports administrators to deliver on such an ambitious undertaking.
