Ultimate FC Triumph In Independence Day Novelty Tourney

Ultimate Football Club of Ifo won the maiden edition of the Independence Cup organised by Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Ifo local government chapter with a commanding 7-points from a possible 9, winning two matches and draw one from three games.

The team with the nations colour claims 3-0 victory over Abata FC and 1-0 against Apakose FSA after the barren draw against Ajax FC at the N.U.D Sports Arena on Nigeria’s 65th Independence Day anniversary, Sports247Niaja reports.

The grassroots gala-match which began early on the independence day with 4 teams locked in league format.

Fatai Quadri of Apakose FSA was the highest goal scorer, scoring twice and providing an assist in the 3-0 win over Abata FC.

The most valuable player, Joseph Sunday’s who scored the fastest free kick goal was nominated as the best goal of the competition, scoring a minute into the final goal to fuel the team to the table topper and unbeaten to be crowned as the champion of the Independence cup.

Apakose FSA was the runner-up of the Independence cup by edging Ajax FC by goal-difference on the table.

Ultimate FC Coach, Agbedejobi Rasaq was pleased with his boys performance.

“Great performance, well deserved win. I was furious with the team performances after losing out on the final match to Ajax FC at the Mama of Africa Cup, the last time we came here. But, it shows how we have practise to give out results to our possession game. I am delighted.”

However, after three matches for each participating team. Ultimate Football Club finish on the table with 7pts, Apakose FSA with 4pts, edging out Ajax Football Club with 2goals difference while on the same point as Abata Football Club finish bottom with a point.
