Real Salt Lake forward, Victor Olatunji, has said that his weekend strike in a 3–1 win over Austin FC was an important morale boost for both him and the team as they continue their push for a Major League Soccer playoff spot.
The Nigerian forward came off the bench to score the decisive goal, sealing victory and ending a frustrating run of results for the club.

“It was a goal we really needed as a team,” Olatunji said. “We’ve had a difficult few weeks, and getting back to winning ways is very important for our confidence.”
The 25-year-old striker explained that the team had worked hard in training to correct their mistakes from previous games, and their improved performance against Austin was evidence of progress.
“We have been working on our finishing and our transitions. Against Austin, we showed more character and determination, and I’m proud of the way we played,” he explained.
Olatunji also stressed that consistency will be key if Salt Lake are to secure a playoff spot.
“This is only one game. We must build on this result and keep pushing until the end of the season. The playoffs are the goal, and we can get there if we stay focused,” he added.
The Nigerian forward’s contribution was warmly received by fans, many of whom see him as a key figure in the team’s attack moving forward.
