Arierhi Eyes Big Statement at U-20 World Cup After AFCON Disappointment

Flying Eagles forward Kparobo Arierhi has expressed confidence that Nigeria’s U-20 team will put up a stronger performance at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile compared to their showing at the recent U-20 AFCON.

The 19-year-old attacker, who plays professionally in Norway, said the squad has worked hard in camp and is ready to face their opening challenge against Norway later today.

“We are determined to do better than what happened at AFCON,” Arierhi said from the team’s camp. “That tournament was disappointing for us, but the World Cup is a bigger stage, and we want to make a real statement.”

Arierhi, who will face some familiar faces in the Norwegian side, revealed that he has spoken with friends in the opposition camp ahead of the clash.

“Yes, I know some of the players in their team because I play in Norway. We have spoken, and there is a lot of banter, but once we step on the pitch, it will be all business. I want Nigeria to win,” he stated.

He further stressed that the Flying Eagles are united in their determination to succeed and that their training sessions have been focused on tactics, fitness, and building chemistry.

“The coaches have been pushing us, and everyone is giving their best. We are ready for the first game, and we know how important it is to start well,” Arierhi added.

Fans will be looking to Arierhi to deliver goals as the team aims to go beyond their previous World Cup runs.
