Onuachu Brace Inspires Trabzonspor Win In Seven-Goal Turkish Super Lig Thriller

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu delivered a match-winning performance on Saturday, scoring twice as Trabzonspor edged Fatih Karagumruk 4-3 in a dramatic Turkish Super Lig encounter at the Ataturk Olimpiyat Stadium, Istanbul.

Trabzonspor opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Felipe Augusto calmly converted from Wagner Pina’s precise assist.

Karagumruk responded swiftly, with Tiago Cukur equalising nine minutes later to restore balance.

Onuachu restored Trabzonspor’s lead in the 35th minute with a moment of brilliance, connecting with Pina’s cross and executing a stunning overhead kick into the bottom corner.

The Nigerian forward doubled his tally deep into first-half stoppage time, confidently slotting home from the penalty spot after a VAR review confirmed a foul inside the area.

Despite Karagumruk dominating much of the second half, Trabzonspor added a fourth goal in the 88th minute, appearing to have sealed all three points.

However, the hosts mounted a dramatic late comeback, with substitute David Datro Fofana striking twice in stoppage time to set up a nervy finish.

Trabzonspor held firm to secure the 4-3 victory, with Onuachu named man of the match.

His spectacular overhead kick is already generating buzz as a potential contender for the 2025 FIFA Puskas Award, following his nomination in 2024.
