Dar es Salaam – The Boxing Federation of Tanzania (BFT) has named a squad of 26 boxers and a nine-member technical team to begin training ahead of the Zone 3 African Boxing Championships scheduled for October 14–15, 2025, in Nairobi, Kenya.

The Nairobi competition will bring together Zone 3 member countries including Kenya, Tanzania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Burundi, Congo-Brazzaville, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Gabon, who have already confirmed participation. The tournament will mark Kenya’s return to hosting the regional championship since 2005.

According to the Federation, the Tanzanian boxers will use the competition to gain international exposure, test their readiness against regional rivals, and build momentum towards the Commonwealth Games. The technical team comprises coaches, referees, trainers, and a medical officer who will oversee preparations and performance.

The Federation has expressed confidence that the team will fly the national flag high in Nairobi and return with valuable experience and results that will strengthen their campaign for Glasgow 2026.
