2025 WAFU B U-17 Boys: Agah Hits First-Half Treble as Golden Eaglets Wallop Benin Republic, Book Semi Final Ticket

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets produced a dazzling first-half display to overpower Benin Republic 4-1 on Wednesday, booking their place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 WAFU B U17 Boys Championship in Yamoussoukro, Côte d’Ivoire.

The five-time world champions came out firing from the start, showing sharpness and intent that quickly overwhelmed their West African rivals.

Forward George Agah stole the spotlight with a brilliant first-half hat trick, while David Edeh added another sublime finish to seal the contest before the interval.

Benin managed to pull one back, but Nigeria’s relentless pressing and attacking flair meant the match was effectively over after the opening 45 minutes.

The second half saw the Eaglets maintain control, keeping possession and managing the game without allowing their opponents a route back.

The result leaves Nigeria at the top of Group B, guaranteeing progression to the knockout stages.

Their next assignment is a crucial clash against Burkina Faso, a tie that will decide who finishes first in the group. Burkina Faso only need a draw to advance as runners-up but will aim to shock Nigeria in the race for top spot.

For Benin Republic, the tournament ends in disappointment after picking up just a single point in their two matches.

Despite their efforts, they could not match the firepower and technical superiority of Manu Garba’s boys.

With confidence now soaring, the Golden Eaglets have set their sights firmly on the semifinals.

Nigeria’s blend of clinical finishing and disciplined defending suggests they remain one of the favorites to lift the regional title and secure qualification to the continental championship.
