Flying Eagles Edge Australia In Friendly, Eye Strong Start vs Norway At U20 World Cup

Nigeria’s U20 side, the Flying Eagles, rounded off their pre-World Cup preparations with a 3–1 win over Australia U20 in a closed-door friendly.

The goals came from Tahir Maigana, Achihi Oseer, and Charles Agada, giving coach Aliyu Zubairu cause for optimism ahead of their opening Group F match.

The victory builds on their earlier 1-1 draw with hosts Chile in Rancagua, where Ahmed Akinyele converted a Tahir Maigana corner before Chile equalised just before halftime.

Now, all attention turns to their first match at the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup: Nigeria will face Norway on Monday, 29 September, at 9:00pm WAT, at Estadio Fiscal in Talca.

A strong performance there could set the tone for Nigeria’s campaign in a group that also includes Saudi Arabia and Colombia.

With momentum on their side, the Flying Eagles will be looking to tighten their defence, sharpen their finishing, and carry the confidence from these friendlies into competitive action.
