Edo Sports Boss Hails KungFu Team For Medal Haul At National Championship

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has commended the Edo State KungFu Association and its athletes for their impressive outing at the maiden National Hauxing Wushu KungFu Championship held in Lagos.

Enabulele gave the commendation on Tuesday when he received Team Edo KungFu athletes and officials, led by association chairman Courage Osamuyi, who presented him with the trophy they won at the championship.

Edo finished second overall at the tournament, securing seven gold, seven silver, and six bronze medals, an achievement the chairman described as a clear improvement on their performance at the last National Sports Festival.

The Edo sports chief praised Osamuyi for his dedication and active involvement in the sport, noting that his leadership inspired the athletes to success.

“Chairmen of associations have two major responsibilities — to serve as advisors and sponsors. You have lived up to expectation, investing both your time and resources. It is no surprise the team were able to deliver such remarkable results,” Enabulele said.

He assured the athletes and officials of improved welfare and support from the commission, stressing that Edo’s vision is to emerge overall winners at the next National Sports Festival in Enugu.

In his remarks, Osamuyi expressed gratitude for the state’s support and reiterated his commitment to growing KungFu in Edo.

He revealed that the association has already participated in three competitions this year and recently sponsored three athletes to a National Coaching Course in Abuja.

“Some of our athletes are graduates. With more collaboration, we can build a stronger team for Edo State,” Osamuyi noted, while formally presenting the championship trophy to the commission.

With consistency in performance — including four gold, six silver, and 12 bronze medals at the last National Sports Festival in Ogun — Team Edo KungFu has established itself as one of the state’s most reliable medal-winning contingents.
