As AFA President, Asibey has led working visits to countries like Nigeria, South Africa and Togo to inspect facilities and forge partnerships that will strengthen the sport’s infrastructure and visibility across Africa.

He has been pushing for armwrestling to become a “sport of choice” in Africa, promoting more competitions, training programs, and involvement of media and corporate partners.

Under his leadership, armwrestling gained inclusion into more continental multi -sports events, and expanded membership of African national federations, increasing competition exposure and athlete participation.

Why It Matters Now

With the All-African Games coming up, Asibey’s partnership with WAF is key to ensuring standardization, qualification pathways, and increased African representation abroad. His efforts are not just administrative—they are shaping prospects for emerging athletes to compete globally.

In his own words: “We are committed to development across Africa, and with WAF, we will make armwrestling a household sport.”
