Dr. Sanusi Mohammed, Secretary-General of the Nigeria Football Federation, has revealed that the Federation is closely following FIFA’s ongoing probe of South Africa for fielding an ineligible player against Lesotho.
He stated that Nigeria, being in the same group, is anxious for clarity over the outcome, given potential implications on group standings.

Mohammed said, “We believe in fair competition. Any breach must be addressed in line with regulations. It is not just about Nigeria—it is about the credibility of the tournament.”
While giving no predictions, he emphasized the importance of due process. Retaining integrity in international competition, he said, is essential. He also expressed hope that whatever decision is made, transparency and timeliness will be maintained.
