He emphasized the importance of concentration, discipline, and intensity, while also backing his words with a strong financial incentive.
“If you draw I’ll give you $1,000, but if you win I’ll give you $2,000,” Titiloye Kumbi declared in his motivational talk to the team.
His remarks drew cheers and laughter from the players, but the message remained clear:
Kwara United must give everything on the pitch to secure a positive result against their formidable hosts.
The chairman further stressed that the players must avoid complacency, urging them to match Kotoko’s physicality and determination.
“Don’t relax from the beginning, don’t let them rush you,” he warned. “Defend your box, impose yourselves, and make sure you play with strength and pride.”
Kwara United go into the encounter seeking to negotiate a good result ahead of the second leg billed for Abeokuta next week Sunday .
Aggregate win over the two legs will qualify Kwara United into the 2nd round of the Priilimnary round and closer to the lucrative group stage in their bid to have a deep run in the championship.
The promise of dollar bonuses adds an extra layer of motivation, with the squad determined to reward both their chairman and their travelling supporters.
Sunday’s match is expected to be fiercely contested, with Asante Kotoko relying on their home advantage and passionate fan base.
However, Kwara United are optimistic that their preparation, coupled with the added incentive from their chairman, can inspire a memorable performance in Accra
