Suleiman Mubarak Becomes First Nigeria-Based Player to Feature in UEFA Youth League

Promising Nigerian midfielder Suleiman Mubarak has etched his name into history as the only player from Nigerian soil currently featuring in the UEFA Youth League (U19 Champions League).

The 18-year-old, who only joined Slavia Praha U19 last week from Right 2 Win Football Academy of Abia State, made his debut in the competition during his new side’s opening group stage match.

Mubarak played a role in Slavia Praha’s emphatic 5-0 victory over Norwegian side Bodø/Glimt U19, a result that marked a perfect start to their European campaign.

His rapid transition from grassroots football in Nigeria to continental competition in Europe highlights both his talent and the increasing impact of Nigerian academies in shaping prospects for the global stage.

For Mubarak, the UEFA Youth League debut represents not just a milestone but the beginning of a journey filled with opportunity. With his creativity and midfield dynamism, he is tipped to be one of Nigeria’s brightest exports in the coming years.
