Seville, Jefferson Wooden Crowned World Champions as Ajayi Makes Historic Men’s 100m Final

Jamaica’s Oblique Seville stormed to men’s 100m gold in a stunning personal best of 9.77 seconds, sealing his place among the world’s sprinting elite.

His performance not only earned him the title of world champion but also propelled him into the all-time top 10 fastest men.

Compatriot Kishane Thompson completed a Jamaican one-two with 9.82 seconds, while Olympic champion Noah Lyles of the USA settled for bronze in 9.89 seconds.

Another American, Kenny Bednarek, narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in 9.92 seconds.

The victory marked the first Jamaican men’s 100m world title since Usain Bolt’s triumph at the 2016 Rio Olympics, with the legendary sprinter watching proudly from the stands.

Nigeria’s Kanyinsola Ajayi made history as the first Nigerian to reach the men’s 100m World Championships final in 18 years, placing sixth with a solid 10.00 seconds.

Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo, a pre-race favorite, was disqualified after a false start.

In the women’s 100m, Melissa Jefferson-Wooden of the USA delivered a sensational run, clocking 10.61 seconds, the fastest time ever recorded at a World Championships and the fourth-fastest in history, to claim gold.

Jamaica’s Tina Clayton earned silver in a personal best of 10.76, while Olympic champion Julien Alfred of Saint Lucia took bronze with 10.84.

Former world champion Sha’Carri Richardson finished fifth in 10.94, while Jamaican sprint icon Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, in her final solo World Championships appearance at age 38, placed sixth in 11.03 seconds.

Great Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith concluded the race in eighth.
