Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie faced relentless pressure, stopping eight efforts as Manchester City defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1.
The Nigerian goalkeeper denied Vivianne Miedema multiple times, ensuring Brighton stayed competitive, despite conceding two second-half goals in the Friday night fixture.

Manchester City overturned a first-half deficit with strikes from Khadija Shaw and Yui Hasegawa, sealing Andrée Jeglertz’s first Women’s Super League victory.
Brighton had taken an early lead when Fran Kirby pounced on a rebound after Michelle Agyemang’s strike was initially saved by Khiara Keating.
Jeglertz endured a disappointing debut against Chelsea last weekend, but his side responded in spirited fashion against Brighton after halftime pressure increased significantly.
Jamaican striker Shaw, last season’s joint-Golden Boot winner with twelve goals, equalised in the 58th minute through a stunning diving header.
Substitute Aoba Fujino provided instant impact by setting up compatriot Hasegawa, who calmly slotted home the winning strike in the 74th minute.
Despite Nnadozie’s resilience in goal, Brighton’s defence struggled to contain City’s attacking momentum during the second half, conceding heavy territorial advantage and possession dominance.
Manchester City’s forwards wasted earlier chances, with Miedema particularly guilty of missing four first-half opportunities, testing Nnadozie only once with serious intent.
The victory marks Manchester City’s first league points under Jeglertz, while Brighton recorded their first defeat of the new Women’s Super League campaign.
Brighton will regroup quickly as they host West Ham United next Sunday at noon, while Manchester City travel to Tottenham Hotspur.
