Super Eagles Must First Beat Rwanda, Then Turn Attention On South Africa, Says Wilfred Ndidi

New signing at Besiktas of Turkey, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi has conceded that he and his colleagues in the Super Eagles must first think about defeating Rwanda this Saturday in Uyo before turning their focus on Tuesday’s match away to South Africa, Sports247 reports.

While admitting that the Eagles are currently in a tight spot, considering their poor start in the qualification race to next year’s FIFA World Cup, Ndidi acknowledged that they must first get victory at home before thinking of winning away.

However, the former Nath Boys of Lagos, RKC Genk of Belgium and Leicester City of England midfielder also assured Nigerians that all players who are currently in the Eagles’ camp know what is at stake and they are determined to reignite their qualification chances.

Ndidi declared, “The feeling is good, and everyone is ready. The chance is still in our hands now, and we know how important it is. So, I feel everyone is ready. We all know the position we are in right now, and everyone is staying focused. We are all trying our best in order to give everything we know.”

Ndidi, who has already featured during two matches in the Turkish Super Lig, after joining Besiktas in the summer transfer window, added that the Eagles’ players are determined to reward their fans, coaches and officials who have encouraged them since the current camp opened on Monday in Uyo.

He continued, “We are in a difficult situation, but it’s still in our hands. So, everyone is ready … from the coach to the staff and the players. Even the hotel staff are trying to encourage us with smiles and words. So, we are feeling very good and the atmosphere is just nice here.”

He concluded with a reassurance that the Eagles know what is at stake in their two upcoming matches, but stressed that the focus for now is only on how to beat Rwanda in Uyo this Saturday, before turning their focus on Tuesday’s tie away to South Africa in Bloemfontein.

Ndidi submitted, “We are looking forward to this one first because it’s the most important one in our hands, and we cannot let it slip away. If we let it slip, then all is finished.
“The only thing now is to put ourselves out there and get something out of this one. We want to win this one and then look forward to the South Africa game. The most important one for now is against Rwanda.”
