17-Year-Old Nwosu Commits to Forest—Set to Ignite Midfield After Exit from West Ham

Nigerian-born midfielder Chinaza Nwosu has taken a major step in his footballing journey by signing his first professional contract—a three-year deal—with Nottingham Forest, ending an eight-year tenure at West Ham United’s academy.

The 17-year-old, who excelled across the Hammers’ youth teams, signed the deal earlier this week and will initially join Forest’s B Team, still eligible for the first-team squad as an U21 player.

Nwosu earned his move following a strong season for the West Ham U18s, featuring in 17 league matches and accumulating 1,494 minutes in the Southern section of the U18 Premier League.

He also made an FA Youth Cup appearance, playing 79 minutes in the third-round contest against Grimsby Town.

The talented midfielder has already showcased his versatility on the international stage, amassing 11 England U17 caps during the 2024–25 campaign. He scored in a friendly versus the Netherlands and contributed two assists in European Championship qualifiers against Malta and Latvia.

Known for his composure under pressure and precise vision in midfield, Nwosu also possesses adaptability—a valuable trait allowing him to slot into central defence if required.

His transition to Nottingham Forest represents a fresh chapter and a vote of confidence in his potential.

Although he will begin within the academy setup, the club could elevate him to senior-level involvement as he continues to develop.
