The 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season continued with pulsating Matchday Two encounters across various centers on Sunday, producing goals, drama, and crucial early points for title hopefuls.
At the Samson Siasia Stadium in Yenagoa, Bayelsa United delighted their home fans with a commanding 2-0 victory over newcomers Barau FC. Wisdom Magbisa broke the deadlock from the penalty spot in the 59th minute, before Ofem Nneoyi sealed the win with a fine strike in the 74th minute.

In Jos, Plateau United were stunned 2-1 at home by Katsina United. Sadiq Abubakar put the visitors ahead in the 12th minute, and Uche Collins doubled their lead on the hour mark.
Despite Gideon Monday pulling one back in the 71st minute, Katsina held firm to claim all three points.
Kano Pillars were forced to a 1-1 draw by Wikki Tourists in a fiercely contested northern derby. Ahmed Lamido opened scoring for Wikki early in the 12th minute, but Mustapha Umar restored parity just before halftime.
In Lafia, Nasarawa United edged Abia Warriors 1-0, thanks to an early strike from Ugochukwu Leonard in the 10th minute, giving the Solid Miners their first win of the campaign.
Over in Port Harcourt, Rivers United secured a narrow 1-0 win over Kwara United.
Ubong Friday converted in the 22nd minute to hand the Pride of Rivers maximum points.
At the Enyimba International Stadium, the People’s Elephant recorded a slim 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes.
Joseph Abiodun’s sixth-minute effort proved decisive in a tightly fought contest.
Meanwhile, Ikorodu City were held to a goalless draw by El-Kanemi Warriors in Lagos, as both sides struggled to convert their chances.
With these results, Bayelsa United, Rivers United, and Enyimba continue their strong start to the season, while Plateau United and Abia Warriors will be seeking quick redemption in Matchday Three.
