CHAN 2024: Nigeria Coach, Eric Chelle Targets Sudan Win as “Must-Win” to Revive Campaign — Showtime Backs Super Eagles B in Zanzibar

Nigeria’s CHAN 2024 head coach, Éric Chelle, has declared tomorrow’s clash with Sudan a “must-win” as the Super Eagles B look to bounce back from their opening-day defeat to Senegal.

Speaking at a press conference in Zanzibar, Chelle made it clear that the focus is firmly on his players and the task ahead, brushing aside past setbacks.

“I don’t think about what happened before or what will happen after. My focus is on my players and the big game,” he said. “If we lose to Senegal in our first game, Senegal is a big team, and the reality is that if you watched the game, we didn’t deserve to lose. It was a mistake from us that cost us. We have worked on that mistake, and for you to win a competition, you have to win one game — for us, that game is this one against Sudan.”

Chelle highlighted the team’s intense preparation over the past five weeks, noting that the group carries big expectations:

“We have really worked hard for five weeks. The reality for us is that we must win tomorrow’s game to validate that job. After that, our confidence will be very high, and our ambition even greater.” Éric Chelle said

Nigeria currently sits bottom of Group D with no points, while Sudan are also searching for their first win. The stakes could not be higher — the winner will have a lifeline to progress in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Sports247 is reporting live from Zanzibar, bringing exclusive coverage of the Super Eagles B campaign. This trip was made possible through the support of key partners, including Showtime, whose backing has been instrumental in ensuring the team’s journey and media coverage at CHAN 2024.

Tomorrow’s match kicks off at 17:00 GMT (6:00 PM WAT) at the Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar.
