Sunshine Stars Football Club has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Shooting Stars coach, Akin Olowookere, describing him as a leader, mentor, and an inspiration to many in Nigerian football.
In a condolence message signed by Michael Akintunde, Media Manager of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), the club extended its heartfelt sympathies to the management, players, and staff of Shooting Stars, as well as to the family and loved ones of the late coach.

“We were deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Coach Akin Olowookere. On behalf of the entire staff members of the Ondo State Football Agency, players, and coaches of our teams, please accept our heartfelt condolences during this incredibly difficult time,” the statement read.
Akintunde hailed Olowookere’s commitment to the sport, noting that his passion and dedication left an indelible mark on the teams he guided.
“Coach Akin Olowookere was not just a coach, but a leader, mentor, and a driving force for the teams he tutored. His inspiring words, calling us ‘true champions,’ will always remain in our hearts,” he added.
The Sunshine Stars’ statement also emphasised that while the game has lost one of its tacticians, his legacy and impact will endure in the hearts of those he influenced.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Coach’s family and loved ones. We know this is a profound loss for all of you. The game may have lost its coach, but his spirit and the impact he made will never be forgotten,” Akintunde concluded.
Olowookere’s passing is being mourned across the Nigerian football community, with tributes pouring in for a man widely respected for his professionalism, passion, and contribution to the growth of the sport.
