Fortuna Sittard’s promising young Nigerian talent, David Stockbrink, has officially resumed training with the club ahead of the 2025-2026 season.
The 18-year-old, who recently spent his off-season in Germany, is back in the Netherlands and eager for the challenges that lie ahead.

Stockbrink’s return follows a period of recuperation from an injury he sustained in late March.
Although he was sidelined for several months, he managed to return to the field before the summer break.
He used his time off to focus on regaining full fitness and is now in peak condition.
A versatile player who features for both the U-19 and U-21 Fortuna Sittard sides in the Eredivisie Youth League, Stockbrink has his sights set on breaking into the senior squad this season.
He will get an early opportunity to showcase his skills this Saturday when the Fortuna Sittard Academy team faces the senior squad in a preseason friendly.
“I can’t wait to be back,” Stockbrink said. “I’ve missed competitive football for a while, but I’m in good shape and in high spirits ahead of the season.”
” My injury was just accidental and can happen to anyone, but thank God I’ve put it behind me.” He stated.
The German-born player is also hoping to earn a call-up to the Nigeria U-20 team as they prepare for the U-20 World Cup in Chile.
Nigeria’s U-20 coach, Aliyu Zubairu, has been monitoring Stockbrink’s progress closely and had previously called him up for the AFCON 2025 tournament.
However, that opportunity was halted by the player’s injury.
With his full recovery, Stockbrink hopes to finally make his international debut.
