Victor Olatunji Joins Real Salt Lake from Sparta Prague in $2.5M Deal

Real Salt Lake have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Oluyemi Olatunji from Czech champions Sparta Prague, in a deal worth a reported $2.5 million. The 25-year-old has signed a contract through June 2028, with club options extending to the end of 2029.

As part of the acquisition, RSL also sent $125,000 in 2026 General Allocation Money (GAM) to D.C. United to obtain Olatunji’s discovery rights.

“Victor’s speed, strength, and intelligence in the box should allow him to fit into our attack and thrive in our league,” said Kurt Schmid, RSL’s Chief Soccer Officer.

Olatunji arrives in Major League Soccer after a successful stint in Europe, where he tallied 42 goals and 11 assists in 192 professional appearances across Austria, Cyprus, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic. At Sparta Prague, he notched 20 goals in 93 appearances, helping the club win the 2023–24 Czech First League and Czech Cup double.

He also made headlines in the 2024 UEFA Champions League, scoring and assisting in his debut as Sparta Prague defeated RB Salzburg 3–0 — making him the first Nigerian and third African player to both score and assist on their Champions League debut.

Olatunji awaits receipt of his International Transfer Certificate (ITC) and P-1 work visa before becoming eligible to play. If cleared, he could debut as early as August 10 against the New York Red Bulls.

He joins fellow Nigerians William Agada and Emeka Eneli in Salt Lake City as the club pushes to solidify its playoff spot, currently sitting eighth in the MLS Western Conference.
