Super Falcons’ Midfielder Deborah Abiodun Makes Surprise Donations To Kids At Lagos National Stadium

Super Falcons‘ battling midfielder, Deborah Abiodun (aka Kante) took acts of charity to a different level on Tuesday, as she surprised several kids with unexpected donations of sporting kit and cash at Lagos National Stadium, Surulere.

Sports247 reports that, although Deborah Abiodun grew up in Ibadan and played for Rivers Angels FC of Port Harcourt before travelling abroad, she felt it right to touch the hearts of children she never knew from Adam.

That motivated the former trainee of Nasarawa State Sports Academy, who played collegiate football in the USA before graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, to dole out choice gifts at random to kids she met during her visit to SportsCity.

Among the gifts given out by the hard tackling 21-year-old Deborah Abiodun, who now plays for Dallas Trinity FC in USA’s Women’s Super League, on loan from top-flight Washington Spirit, were shin guards, socks and footballs.

Apart from young boys who she met playing knockabout on the hard surface of the stadium’s parking space, Abiodun also gave gifts to a kid who she saw hawking bananas and then bought all of his goods at double the price.

The two-time member of USA’s Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Collegiate All Stars also had words of wisdom, encouragement and prayers for the starry-eyed kids, who she touted as future world football stars.

“Always play safe. Listen to your mummy and daddy at home. Make sure you focus on your school as well.

“God is going to bless you all, and you are going to come back to give things to people who do not have.

“I know, by God’s grace, all of you will be great people – like Victor Osimhen, Victor Boniface, future Messi, future Kante and future Agba Baller. Amen,” said Deborah Abiodun.

Sports247 adds that Abiodun’s presence in the Falcons’ squad that won the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco marked the height of a very rapid progression that was ignited for her in 2022.

She was part of the Falconets’ team that gave a gallant performance at the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup, got her senior debut in the same year, then played at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2023 and Olympic Games in 2024.
