Super Falcons Should Win As Many WAFCON Titles Anyone Can Imagine – Paul Edeh

The chairman of Benue State Football Association (BSFA), Chief (Dr) Paul Edeh says Nigeria’s female football national team, Super Falcons should keep on winning the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations for as many times as can ever be imagined, Sports247 reports.

While acknowledging that the team has already created a historic landmark by winning a 10th WAFCON title recently in Morocco, Edeh, who is also a lawyer and the president of Ratels Sports Development Foundation, opined that winning the competition repeatedly would further confirm Nigeria’s dominant status in African women’s football.

Edeh reasoned further, “For me, it signifies that Nigeris has come of age when it comes to women’s football.”

The smooth-talking sports philanthropist, who is also the financier of two female football clubs – Naija Ratels of Abuja and Benue Qurens of Makurdi – went on to express satisfaction with the progressive nature of Nigeria’s women’s team, as indicated by the Falcons return to winning ways after missing last year’s title in the same Morocco.

He added, “To be a 10-time champion signifies that it is not a tea party and not something that came within just a year. It’s a product of decades of hard work.

“That’s why, from one generation to the next generation and the next, Nigeria has been consistent in conquering Africa.”

However, rather than call for a softer outing next time or relaxation after this year’s accomplishment of ‘Mission X,’ Edeh urged the Falcons to keep on winning as many WAFCON trophies as they can.

“After achieving this feat in becoming the first nation to win it 10 times in Africa, I believe that our dominance in women’s football has come of age.

“Having said that, I still believe, moving forward, we must sustain that momentum to make it 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 … until we get the highest number anyone can ever imagine,” Edeh demanded.
