CAF Confederation Cup 2025/2026: Renovation Works Begin at Kwara Stadium Main Bowl Ahead of New Season

Contractors have commenced renovation works at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin, as Kwara United prepares for the upcoming Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

The state government, under Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, approved the immediate upgrade of the facility following recommendations made during a recent inspection by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Preliminary works, including pitch rehabilitation, have already begun to ensure the stadium meets CAF standards.

Kwara United is scheduled to kick off its NPFL season at home against Ikorodu City on Sunday, August 24, 2025.

The renovation aims to allow the team to host continental matches in Ilorin, avoiding a repeat of 2022 when they played all their home games at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos due to non-compliance issues.

State officials have expressed commitment to completing the improvements in time for the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary rounds
