According to Trabzonspor’s medical team via AbcGazetesi, tests revealed significant swelling in Onuachu’s left ankle along with partial ligament damage.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ahmet Beşir, head of the club’s health board, confirmed the diagnosis, stating:
“Due to the impact, intense oedema was detected in Onuachu’s left ankle bones and partial injury to his ankle ligaments. Our medical team has begun treatment.”
The setback comes as a blow to Trabzonspor fans who had eagerly awaited Onuachu’s return following a long transfer saga.
The towering forward had previously enjoyed a successful loan spell at the Black Sea club, scoring 17 goals in 25 matches during the 2023/24 season.
Onuachu is now expected to miss the club’s opening fixtures of the new Turkish Super Lig campaign, including the season opener against newly-promoted Kocaelispor on August 11.
