Athletics fans are set for an electrifying finale at the 2025 Nigeria Athletics Trials today at Yaba College of Technology, with World 100m Hurdles Champion Tobi Amusan eyeing double glory.
Amusan, sporting a bold low-cut hairstyle, is expected to compete in the highly anticipated women’s 100m final as well as her signature hurdles event.

The multiple-time African champion has revived her 100m flat career and will be looking to dominate both races.
The concluding day of the All Nigeria Athletics Championship Trials promises intense competition, particularly in the men’s relay events where Nigeria’s teams face a fierce challenge from neighboring Ghana. Both nations are vying for qualification spots for the upcoming World Athletics Championships scheduled for September in Tokyo, Japan.
Today’s events will feature finals in the 200m, 400m, 4×400m, 4×100m, medley, and mixed relay races, ensuring a packed day of action for spectators.
AFN President, Chief Tonobok Okowa, expressed appreciation to Arise News TV and the National Sports Commission (NSC) for their financial backing.
He also lauded the passionate fans who have turned out in large numbers to support the athletes throughout the championship.
“We’re grateful to our partners and the incredible fans. Their support has been vital in making this championship a success,” Okowa said.
The finals kick off later today with Amusan and Nigeria’s relay teams aiming to book their tickets to the global stage in Tokyo.
