He highlighted the vital contributions of Lagos-bred players in the squad, including six-time African Women’s Player of the Year Asisat Oshoala, Super Falcons captain and tournament MVP Rasheedat Ajibade, as well as emerging star Folashade Ijamilusi.

“The Lagos State Football Association and all stakeholders in football across our great state are extremely proud of your achievements at WAFCON,” Liameed said. “We also thank Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for providing an enabling environment for sports development through the impactful T.H.E.M.E.S+ agenda of his administration.”

Reaffirming the FA’s commitment to grassroots football, Liameed pledged to further invest in programs that support the development of young female players in Lagos.

“There are many talented girls in Lagos with the potential to become the next Oshoala, Ajibade, or Ijamilusi. We will continue to create opportunities to discover and nurture such talents,” he stated.

The FA also extended appreciation to Emmanuel Osahon, coach and founder of Robo Queens Football Club, for his pivotal role in nurturing top talents who have gone on to become generational stars for Nigerian women’s football.

“Your tireless efforts in developing players like Oshoala, Ajibade, and Ijamilusi have significantly contributed to our success on the continental stage,” Liameed added.

Lagos FA concluded by reaffirming its vision to maintain the state’s status as the “home of football” in Nigeria while empowering the girl-child through sustainable football development initiatives.
