Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) president, Silas Agara has predicted a glorious outing for the country’s contingent at this year’s World Karate Championship in Paris, France, Sports247 reports.
Speaking against the backdrop of an improved show for Nigeria at the recent UAKF African Karate Championship in Abuja, Agara pointed out that the installation of upgraded facilities for the competition means the country’s karatekats now have better equipment to train with.

Silas Agara asserted, “This infrastructure that we’ve been able to assemble will be there for future events and for athletes to train with more effectively.
“This will also help our athletes develop the right standards that will help them compete in world finals.”
As attention now shifts to the first stage of the global championship, with the qualifiers billed for October 17-19 at Pierre de Coubertin Stadium in Paris, France, Agara enthused that the Nigerian contingent will have competitors who picked higher rankings with their efforts in Abuja.
Silas Agara added, “Through this championship, their ranking will certainly improve, and that means they would be eligible to compete at the world championship in Paris.”
Agara is also a view that Nigerian karatekats will be able to scale the qualification rounds in Paris in order to be part of the finals scheduled for November 27-30 in Cairo, Egypt.
He further pointed out that their ability to hold their own firmly during the Abuja contests, which had over 1,000 competitors from 31 countries in attendance, means they are now ready for the global stage.
