Super Eagles-B Bottled a 2-Goal First Half Lead in a Friendly With Zanzibar

Super Eagles of Nigeria B-team were forced to a 2-2 draw by Zanzibar’s Heroes in their second and final pre-tournament friendly in Zanzibar.

Anas Yusuf and Adedayo Olamilekan got both goals in the first half. However, Eric Chelle opted to rotate heavily in the second half, giving everybody on the bench a chance to play. It followed Monday’s 0-0 draw.

Coach Erik Sekou Chelle fielded the entire bench to give every player match experience and urged them to slow the tempo to avoid injuries before the CHAN tournament. The first leg ended 0-0.

CHAN 2024 bound Super Eagles B, also known as the CHAN Eagles, finishes up the preparation ahead of the tournament, which kicks off on August 2, 2025, in Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.

The Eagles are drawn in the same group with Senegal, Sudan, and Congo, and they will face Senegal in the first game at the Amaan Stadium, Zanzibar City, Tanzania on August 5, 2025.
