Ogun FA Chairman Hails Governor Dapo Abiodun’s Support for Super Falcons Ahead of WAFCON Final

Chairman of the Ogun State Football Association, Alhaji Ganiyu Majekodunmi, has commended the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, for his unwavering support for Nigeria’s female national team, the Super Falcons, as they prepare for the final of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) against Morocco on Sunday.

Alhaji Majekodunmi praised the governor for his contributions to the team’s development, noting that his support has had a significant impact on the players’ morale and performance throughout the tournament.

“Governor Abiodun has shown true commitment to the growth of women’s football in Nigeria,” Majekodunmi said. “His efforts have not gone unnoticed, and they have played a part in the team’s successful run to the final.”

The FA chairman recalled the Governor’s gesture earlier this year when the Super Falcons were hosted at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta for a pre-WAFCON friendly match against Cameroon, a match they won convincingly 2-0.

“That moment was more than just a game,” he added. “It was a show of belief in our girls, and it helped to strengthen their resolve going into the tournament.”

Alhaji Majekodunmi expressed optimism that the team will emerge victorious in the final and confidently assured that the people of Ogun State are fully behind the Super Falcons.

“We are proud of what they’ve achieved so far, and we are confident they will bring the trophy home. With Governor Abiodun’s continued support, I am sure there is even more to come for women’s football in our state and the nation at large,” he concluded.

The Super Falcons face hosts Morocco in what promises to be a thrilling WAFCON final encounter on Sunday.
