Super Falcons’ captain, Rasheedat Ajibade (ak Rash) is already counting on God, supporters and teamwork as three major factors she hopes will give Nigeria victory over Morocco in the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations final.
Sports247 reports that the Falcons will tango with host nation Morocco in search of a tenth African title on Saturday, ahead of which Ajibade hinted that God’s grace, fans’ support and cooperation among all the players will give Nigeria a much-desired victory.
Sports247 notes that a win on Saturday would be a fitting payback for the Falcons against the same team that sent them packing in the semi-finals of WAFCON 2022, and it would also help the Nigerian lasses accomplish their much vaunted ‘Mission X’ campaign.
With seconds ticking rapidly away towards the final’s kick-off in Rabat this Saturday, Ajibade cast a look back at Tuesday’s dramatic semi-final victory over South Africa in the semi-finals.
‘The Girl With Blue Hair’ expressed delight with the Falcons’ 2-1 win and her emergence as player of the match, for the third straight game at Maroc 2024, but conceded that it would not have been possible without God’s grace and total support from her teammates.
“I don’t deserve it, to be honest, but God’s grace found me. This is teamwork. It’s not about me alone, but all of the team’s efforts.
“Thanks, too, to the fans, for roaring and supporting us all the way. We couldn’t have done it on our own, and our strength alone.
“All glory be to God. I thank God. I thank Jesus Christ for His grace and mercy. Amen,” Ajibade supplicated, with tears of joy streaming down her face.
The former Atletico Madrid Femenino of Spain winger will now be looking up to the same three factors to guide her team to victory in the WAFCON 2024 final, which is scheduled to start at 5pm Nigeria time.
