Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Grassroots Sports Development, Hon. Anthony Adeboye Adeyinka (Zulu Authority), has extended heartfelt congratulations to the Super Falcons of Nigeria following their qualification for the final of the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Reacting to the team’s impressive campaign so far, Adeboye commended the players and coaching crew for their resilience, brilliance, and patriotism in flying Nigeria’s flag high throughout the tournament.

“Nigeria is proud of the Super Falcons. Your journey to the final has been nothing short of heroic. You have shown strength, skill, and determination that reflects the true spirit of Nigerian excellence,” Adeboye said in a statement on Wednesday morning.
The Super Falcons, nine-time African champions, will face host nation Morocco on Saturday in what promises to be an electric and historic showdown. Nigeria is gunning for an unprecedented 10th WAFCON title, while Morocco will be aiming to lift their first-ever trophy on home soil after edging Ghana in a dramatic penalty shootout in the semi-final.
Adeboye, who has been a vocal advocate for grassroots and women’s sports development in Nigeria, expressed strong belief in the Falcons’ ability to rise to the occasion once more.
“This trophy is coming home. I believe in the girls, I believe in their heart, and I believe in their talent. We’re not just hoping — we’re preparing to celebrate them properly. The Super Falcons are not just going to win — they’re going to make history.”
He also assured the team of maximum support from the grassroots sports office and beyond, promising that a grand celebration awaits the champions on their return.
“As the LOC Chairman of the upcoming African Armwrestling Championship, I know what it takes to support champions. And our Super Falcons have shown they are the best on the continent. We’ll be waiting to receive them like the heroes they are.”
Adeboye concluded by calling on Nigerians everywhere to rally behind the team.
“Let us all throw our weight behind our girls. Let’s cheer them, pray for them, and support them. Together, we will lift this trophy again. Go Super Falcons! Bring it home!”
The WAFCON 2024 final takes place this Saturday in Rabat, with the world watching as two giants Nigeria and Morocco battle for continental glory.
