Bay FC of USA striker, Asisat Oshoala has singled out two youngsters, Deborah Abiodun and Shukurat Oladipo as foundations for the future in Nigeria’s female national team, Super Falcons, Sports247 reports.
Oshoala, who shot to limelight in 2014 and has won six African Women Footballer of The Year awards, is already in the twilight of her career with the national team, thereby limiting her impact and playing time with the squad.

The exciting attacker, who has previously played for Arsenal and Liverpool Ladies of England, as well as Barcelona of Spain, is now tipping fellow-USA-based midfielder, Abiodun and new signing at AS Roma of Italy, Oladipo to lead the Falcons’ new generation in years to come.
Oshoala, who played as a substitute along with Abiodun in Friday’s demolition of Zambia, declared: “The players that excite me the most right now? I’ll say Deborah and Shukurat.
“Both of them are like the future of this team. I can see it, and they are proving it. I see what many other people don’t see easily. Sometimes, it’s like that.”
Sports247 gathered that 21-year-old Abiodun has already become an integral part of the Falcons’ squad and started their first two matches at the ongoing Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, after playing the same role in all three matches the team played at the 2024 Olympics in France.
The former Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt battler started her career abroad in 2023 as an undergraduate playing under former Falcons’ coach, Randy Waldrum at Pittsburgh Panthers, from where she moved to US Women’s Super League outfit, Washington Spirit early this year, but was quickly loaned out to her present base at Dallas Trinity.
On the other hand, 20-year-old Oladipo is fresh out of FC Robo Queens of Lagos, the same team that also produced Oshoala.
The former youth international, who was part of Nigeria’s silver-winning squad at the Africa Games women’s football competition last year in Accra, Ghana, signed for AS Roma Feminino in February this year.
