WAFCON 2024: Tosin Demehin Cherishes Four Clean Sheets, Targets Two More Victories For Super Falcons

Galatasaray Ladies of Turkey defender, Oluwatosin Blessing Demehin is relishing helping Nigeria get clean sheets in their first four matches at this year’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, but admitted they have to win two more games to emerge champions in Morocco.

Sports247 reports that Friday’s 5-0 trouncing of Zambia in the quarter-finals meant Demehin and her fellow-defenders in the Super Falcons have not conceded any goal at WAFCON 2024, as they defeated Tunisia 3-0 and Botswana 1-0 before a goalless draw with Algeria in their group matches.

While celebrating Friday’s huge victory at Stade Larbi Zaouli in Casablanca, the 23-year-old former Sunshine Queens of Akure, Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt and Reims of France stopper stressed that the Falcons confirmed their superiority over Zambia.

Demehin added, “Four matches and no goal against us. That means four clean sheets for us. If it’s easy, let’s see another team do it. That’s not an easy achievement.

“I’m also happy we showed Zambia we are better than them. It’s not just about talking and boasting. We showed that they were not a tough side for us to beat, and everybody saw it.”

She then turned her focus on Tuesday’s semi-final fixture, which she described as another opportunity to take the Falcons closer to their tenth WAFCON title, but assured Nigerians that they will not underrate any team that comes their way.

Demehin further declared, “Winning 5-0 is not something small. We showed the workings, and it’s not a child’s play; but we’re not getting carried away by this achievement.

“It’s one step at a time. We’ve crossed four hurdles, and it’s now remaining two hurdles to cross before we can become champions.”

The amiable lass stopped short of predicting the scoreline of Tuesday’s semi-final but gave an assurance of a final ticket for the Falcons and posiited: “All I know is that Nigerians should just expect victory from us.”
