Nigerian Defender Adebola Oluwo Seals Two‑Year Move to Salford City After Promotion Heroics At Barnet

Salford City have bolstered their defensive ranks with the signing of Nigerian‑heritage centre-back Adebola Oluwo from Barnet on a two-year contract, it was confirmed on June 9, 2025.

The towering defender played a pivotal role in Barnet’s return to the Football League, making 36 league appearances, scoring six goals, and helping the team keep 14 clean sheets en route to the National League title last season.

Born in Mushin, Lagos State and raised partly in Ijebu Osasa, Ogun State, Adebola Oluwo relocated to the UK at eight years old. He rose through the ranks in Essex, most notably at Chelmsford City and then Barnet, where he helped secure promotion via the National League South playoffs before guiding Barnet itself to the top of the National League table .

With the departure of Curtis Tilt to Bradford City, Oluwo arrives at the Peninsula Stadium as Salford’s new defensive linchpin under manager Karl Robinson. His aerial presence, physicality, and goal threat from set pieces are seen as ideal replacements in a squad that narrowly missed the playoffs last term .

Reflecting on his past and ambition, Oluwo shared:

“It was an amazing feeling last season … I want to do it again and hopefully replicate here with Salford. Competing for promotion is quite a pressurising situation, so having experienced it helps me know how to handle it … I feel that I can impact other players around me in a positive way as well.”

Salford’s announcement highlights adequate depth in their summer business ahead of the 2025–26 League Two campaign, in which Oluwo is officially listed among the incoming transfers effective from July 1, 2025 .

At 25 years old, and standing at 6 ft 3 in, Oluwo brings both physical dominance and leadership to the backline. His impressive form in the National League—averaging 36 appearances with six goals and commanding defensive performances—makes him a standout signing for Salford as they target promotion .

As the new season approaches, all eyes will be on Oluwo to deliver the same resilience and consistency that helped Barnet triumph—and to kickstart Salford’s own bid for League Two success.
